ISO 12100 Terminology Table - translations in 30+ languages
CEN, the European Committee for Standardization, has published an ISO 12100 Terminology Table that translates into 30+ languages the technical terms used in ISO 12100:2010, Safety of machinery. General principles for design. Risk assessment and risk reduction.
The database comprises the 57 terms defined by ISO 12100 in English, French and German, and the translation of these terms into these languages: Arabic, Bulgarian, Croatian, Chinese, Czech, Danish, Dutch, Estonian, Finnish, Greek, Hungarian, Icelandic, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Latvian, Lithuanian, Malay, Norwegian, Persian (or Farsi), Polish, Portuguese, Romanian, Russian, Serbian, Slovak, Slovenian, Spanish, Swedish and Turkish. Columns have already been included for forthcoming translations into Albanian and Macedonian, and CEN will welcome translations into other languages (ISO 639-1:2002 (Codes for the representation of names of languages - Part 1: Alpha-2 code) is used for the identification of the languages).
Translations have been verified by national member bodies; where no validation has been received, the translation is identified as non-official.
Note that ISO 12100:2010 is the version of the international standard that merges ISO 12100-1:2003, ISO 12100-2:2003 and ISO 14121-1:2007, so the database includes the terms and definitions from all of those source documents. Many terms were already defined in ISO TR 12100-1:1992/EN 292-1:1991, so these are included in the database, as well as the modifications that had been introduced in ISO 12100-1:2003 and three specific definitions from ISO 14121:2007 (hazardous event, task and malfunction). A further column has been added to provide a link to the corresponding definition provided by the ISO Concept Database ('ISO CDB link').
