JOST acquires hydraulics business Edbro

With the acquisition of the British company Edbro plc, the JOST group expands its extensive product portfolio for commercial vehicles to incorporate hydraulic cylinders and systems.

With effect from 20 November 2012, JOST has acquired Edbro plc from Caravelle. David Nesbitt, Edbro's Managing Director, says: "JOST is the ideal partner for Edbro going forward. Edbro will strongly benefit from becoming part of JOST's global business. We will be able to grow our sales faster and access new markets through JOST's global sales and distribution network."

Since its foundation in 1916, Edbro has been engaged in the development of hydraulic lifting equipment and is the market leader in hydraulic systems for commercial vehicles today. This product leadership will be further strengthened by the integration into JOST. Lars Brorsen, CEO of JOST group, is happy to welcome Edbro as another strong and successful product brand into the JOST family.

Brorsen notes: "With the high-quality and well-engineered products and systems of Edbro, we are able to expand our product offering to our customers considerably. Besides expansion in existing markets, we have also set ourselves the target to introduce Edbro's successful hydraulic systems into new markets."

Edbro is the leading company in the field of vehicle-mounted hydraulic systems. The product portfolio includes front-end, underbody, tipping and trailer-thrust-cylinders, as well as customised hydraulic kits. Edbro has more than 90 years of experience in engineering and production. State-of-the-art technology in development and on-line quality assurance systems provide for high-quality products and customer satisfaction.

Edbro's R&D, production and headquarters are located in Bolton, near Manchester, UK. There are about 200 employees working for the company across Europe. Edbro sells its products worldwide to manufacturers in the truck and trailer industry.
