Aluminium profile sections from MiniTec UK have been used in the construction of a special Smart kitchen which forms a centrepiece at the UK National Innovation Centre for Ageing
MiniTec’s modular system has been used for the gantry frameworks and overhead support rail in the prototype design of a special kitchen at the Newcastle-on-Tyne based UK National Innovation Centre for Ageing.
Known as the Gen 4 Kitchen, it features a combination of interesting technology and design to include features that not only make the kitchen functional, aesthetically pleasing and ergonomically sound, but help both the youngest and oldest family members stay safe in multigenerational households. For example, a spill detector for the floor (with alarm) to help prevent accidents, and locking devices on the drawers and cupboards when sensors detect that a child is alone.
Gary Livingstone, MD of MiniTec UK, said “We are proud to have been involved with the design of the prototype. This project highlights the versatility of our products and we are delighted to have been included in a design which is so innovative and forward-thinking.”
