Keep your motors running

Schaeffler has introduced the Generation C range of deep groove ball bearings for electric motors, meeting the needs of applications in which low noise and smooth running are critical.

Increasingly electric motors have become an indispensable part of our daily living. The challenge though is that the consumers need to save electricity as well as money and, with more devices being operated with rechargeable batteries to further increase comfort, this makes energy efficiency even more important.

Schaeffler has over 100 years’ experience of manufacturing products for this market. Whether for standard motors or highly specialised electric drives, Schaeffler’s Generation C (GenC) range of deep groove ball bearings are designed in premium quality. Whilst the standard version is quiet, the GenC One Schaeffler design is even more so. These bearings also contribute to low-friction operation, having an optimised inner design to keep bearing friction as low as possible.

These characteristics can be attributed to numerous improvements to raceway parameters in terms of smoothness and tighter manufacturing tolerances. We all know what reduced friction leads to, lower energy costs during operation. This means a more efficient motor, resulting in reduced energy consumption. These design improvements mean that the bearings can achieve higher running speeds (rpm), whilst simultaneously increasing the life of the bearing.

For large electric motors in industrial settings, the types often used for driving fans and pumps, low energy and low noise plays an important role. However even if the best components are used, maintenance measures are unavoidable. With the right condition monitoring system, efficient maintenance measures can be planned and machine downtime avoided.

Schaeffler has also developed a complete E-KIT which can be retrofitted and includes all the necessary accessories required for mounting and installation, allowing a simple upgrade to a fully automatic relubrication system.
