Laser measuring sensor achieves +/-3mm over 200mm

Optical distance measurement based on the light propagation principle using red laser light is a tried-and-tested method for permanent position sensing of moving plant and machine parts such as rack handling systems, portal crane gantries, travelling trolleys or transfer bridges. The introduction of the new AMS 200 (Absolute Measuring System 200) is said to set higher standards with respect to positioning control, data transparency, handling and design, bringing improved repeatability and accuracy over longer distances.

The technology that makes the AMS 200 so precise is contained in a modern housing design that contributes to easier installation, whether new-build or retrofit. Much is attributed to the front-mounted display panel that shows the actual measured values, set parameters or warning messages. And directly alongside the display are four menu selection buttons for greater convenience during initial set-up procedures, including precise alignment.

Connectivity is also directly up-front with the AMS 200, as the M12 sockets are clearly visible for easy access, and support is provided for various fieldbuses.
