Lightweight electric grippers are plug-and-play

DE-STA-CO is launching the DPE-200 Series electric grippers, claiming them to be the simplest and most durable of their type on the market. Plug-and-play operation means they are very simple to use, with no programming required and nothing to adjust. Optional external msagneto-resistive sensors can be added for position sensing. The innovative electric parallel grippers are suitable for a wide variety of automation, robotic and pick-and-place applications.

Despite their compact dimensions and light weight, the DPE series electric grippers are robust, long-lasting (tested to 30million cycles) and maintenance-free. According to DE-STA-CO, these offer the lowest cost of ownership of any electric or pneumatic grippers currently on the market.

Inside, the grippers feature a rugged rack and pinion for drive and synchronisation. All of the electronics are contained within the housing, which simplifies integration and provides protection (the grippers are sealed to IP64).

DPE-200 Series electric grippers are rated for 100 per cent duty cycles and provide up to 90N of gripping force and strokes of up to 25mm with a parallel action. Actuation time is just 0.25s and the grippers can handle up to 120 parts per minute. Custom gripper attachments up to 76.2mm long can be used, with only a minimal reduction in the gripping force when longer fingers are used. Larger and smaller electric grippers are also available (DPE-400 and RPE-100 Series) for applications beyond the capabilities of the DPE-200 Series.

'DirectConnect' threaded holes and H7 holes for location dowels are provided on four sides, making the grippers straightforward to mount. With no need for an air supply, the electric grippers can be connected using flexible cables for the actuation and position sensors.

Follow the link for more information and a datasheet about the DPE-200 Series electric grippers, as well as other models of electric gripper.
