Lindapter is expanding its range of steelwork clamps with a high-performance M24 bolt version. The new M24 Type AF bolt will securely connect channel-, angle- and I-beam secondary steelwork without drilling or welding - dramatically reducing construction time and costs. A pair of M24 Type AF bolts is guaranteed to handle very large frictional loads of up to 35kN SWL (safe working load, with a 5:1 factor of safety).
Before the launch of this product, constructors typically had to use M30 or M36 size Lindapter fixings and bolts. Compared with these, the M24 Type AF clamp cuts costs considerably, and significantly reduces the torque required for assembly.
Lindapter's new Type AF M24 design features an innovative toothed nose that delivers a high-friction connection. The fixing even works on beams with tapers of up to 10 degrees, providing a compact and low-cost permanent joint for connecting onto older-style steelwork for refurbishment and upgrade projects.
The Type AF M24 clamp is manufactured from high strength SG iron grade EN-GJS-600-3, and is hot-dip galvanised as standard for resistance to corrosion. The clamps are offered with a choice of 8.8 or 10.9 grade bolts, which support safe frictional working loads of 30kN and 35kN SWL per bolt, respectively, and tensile loads of 80 and 125kN SWL per pair of bolts. The tightening torques required for the M24 AF are 800Nm for grade 8.8 bolts, and 1000Nm for grade 10.9. In comparison, an M36 bolted fixing would require a typical tightening torque of 1715Nm.
Applications for the M24 Type AF clamp are extremely diverse and may be found in all secondary steelwork construction. Markets include offshore oil and gas platforms, process engineering, civil construction, and structural steel construction on both new-build and refurbishment projects. The new AF clamps have been field tested as part of Lindapter's development programme, in projects including bridge and roof strengthening.
The new fixings expand an existing range of Lindapter frictional clamps with bolt sizes from M12 to M20.
