RSD type linear bearings from Micromech are compact guides for precise linear motion that provide high accuracy with an outstanding reliability. Depending on the load requirements they can be fitted with ball or roller cages and manufactured for a premium standard in high-tech applications requiring first-class performance and quality - yet at a minimum cost.
Depending on customer requirements, the linear bearing can be fitted with ball or roller cages with alternately crossed rollers. The construction consists of two pairs of linear bearings where one pair consists of two similar 90-degree V-groove guideways that are through-hardened and precision ground, fitted with a cage in between. Crossed-roller cages are used in high-load and high-precision applications, although good dust protection is required in this case. Cages fitted with balls are used in applications that require less capacity, low friction, or where dust and dirt are likely to penetrate the guideways. This is because the balls are affected less by dust or dirt, due to a self-cleaning effect of the balls. The RSD linear bearings can have roller sizes from 1.5-24mm and lengths from 20-1400mm.
The guideways are machined with attachment holes at a standard pitch configuration and there are threaded holes in the ends for fixing end-pieces and wipers.
RSD bearings are designed as high quality products, yet they are described as 'sensibly priced'. Micromech expects RSD bearings to quickly become the first choice for many in the scientific, pharmaceutical, research establishments, as well as in manufacturing, where higher performance is the driver.
