Long-life axial flow fans offered with filters and alarms

Oriental Motor is introducing a new range of axial flow fans that feature an integral filter or alarm circuitry, and a long life expectancy.

In many instances, the very location of a fan renders it inaccessible once the host equipment is in operation. For such applications, Oriental Motor offers the MDE series long-life fan, which is designed to provide a lifetime of 100,000 hours or more. Measuring only 120mm square x 25mm deep, the MDE operates from 12 or 24V DC and carries CE, UL, CUL and Demko approvals.

Where the uninterrupted cooling of equipment is of vital importance, the company offers two purpose-designed fans. The MRS series fans are designed to activate an alarm when the fan speed falls to within 8.5 per cent of 1800rpm. Ten versions are available in frame sizes ranging from 119mm square x 25mm deep, to 250mm square x 120mm deep, and these deliver an air flow and static pressure of up to 24m3/min and 86Pa, respectively. Versions for 12/24V DC, 230V AC and 115V AC operation are available.

The MD series fans designed to deliver an alarm in the event that the fan stops altogether. They are available for 12 or 24V DC operation, in frame sizes between 42mm square x 10mm deep and 120mm square x 25mm deep, delivering an air flow of up to 2.7m3/min and a static pressure of up to 86Pa.

A more powerful version of Oriental Motor's popular MRS series axial flow fan has also been introduced to meet demand for frame sizes between 160 and 250mm. Designed for mains operation at 230 or 115V AC, it provides an alarm function to detect a drop in speed of +/-3 per cent and, in the case of 50Hz models, delivers an air flow typically of 21m3/min at 2900rpm, with a static pressure of 32Pa. A Variflow version is also available for regulated air flow. All versions are CE and CUL approved.

Completing this quartet of introductions is the FM series cooling modules (exhaust type fan and filter panels) that provide protection to IP55 or IP43, depending on the model, typically for use on equipment cabinets. Available in suction or exhaust versions, the FM series units are extremely versatile: the fan may be supplied separately from the filter and cover, enabling them to be installed separately in the host cabinet to ensure that internally-circulating air is free from dust and other particulates. Three sizes are available, delivering up to 1.37m3/min at 3000rpm, static pressure of 63Pa, from power supplies of 230 or 115V AC. The Series is RoHS-compliant.

Together, these important introductions represent a significant expansion of the Oriental Motor product lines, offering customers efficient airflow options for electronic equipment and enclosures.
