Low-cost, two-channel benchtop scope with high-end features

Audon Electronics is introducing the SDS6062 two-channel benchtop scope that has a huge 10MSa record length for each channel, enabling zooming capability for investigating fast, intermittent pulses. This low-cost versatile scope samples at 500MSa/s and is packed with useful features normally only seen on higher-end DSOs, including deep memory, external, video-capable trigger, auto-measurements, auto-scaling, large 8inch full-colour LCD display, XY mode, auto-set, averaging, maths functions, USB output, waveform storage, pass/fail output and a three-year warranty. Even FFT functionality is included for frequency spectrum display. It comes in a slim case and can even be fitted with an optional battery, which makes it useful for field or isolated operation.

Autoscale can automatically adjust the vertical gain, or the horizontal time base, or both together. This is useful for circuit probing; as the probe is moved from point to point on a circuit board, the display auto-adjusts for best trace presentation. It functions in the same manner as AutoSet but, instead of being a one-time function, it remains active until turned off, thereby keeping the operator's hands free. FFT allows instant display the frequency spectrum of the signal under test. The SDS6062 can automatically measure and display frequency and peak-peak/rms/mean values, but cursors can also be moved to make individual readings. A built-in self-calibration facility improves measurement accuracy.

Video monitoring is also possible since users can trigger on NTSC/PAL/SECAM line or field waveforms. The SDS6062 includes the following features: manual cursor measurements, up to 19 automatic measurements (including frequency), high-speed screen update, storage for up to 15 waveforms and set-up parameters, convenient USB serial interface with PC software, 400V (DC+AV peak) maximum input, optional rechargeable battery pack and multi-language capabilities.

This lightweight scope is said to be suitable for any engineer or student. The USB master and slave connections make printing or storing results easy too. With a large 7.8nch 640 x 480 colour TFT-LCD, this scope is small enough and light enough to carry anywhere. The sensitivity range is 2mV/div to 10V/div, with a maximum display of +/-50V. Another useful feature is the ability to store up to 15 waveforms for comparison with live inputs. A persistence control is also available that simulates old analogue scopes to compare slow-moving waveforms with previous scans. 'A+B' and 'A-B' maths capability is included, while the X-Y display feature can be used to reveal phase delays.
