Digi International is launching the XBee-PRO 900HP, a 900MHz wireless module that offers up to 28 miles line-of-sight range, which the company says is more than three times the range of comparably priced modules. When coupled with a ConnectPort X gateway, customers can integrate XBee-PRO900HP end points into their applications easily using the iDigi Device Cloud. XBee-PRO 900HP modules also support over-the-air firmware updates, which can be done quickly and easily via the iDigi Device Cloud.
Larry Kraft, the senior vice president of global sales and marketing at Digi International, comments: "The XBee-PRO 900HP is ideal for extended-range applications such as field irrigation, tank monitoring, street lighting control, energy distribution automation and other applications. With the iDigi Device Cloud, customers can deploy and maintain XBee-PRO 900HP end points easily and efficiently."
The XBee-PRO 900HP features data rates of up to 200 Kbps. It includes a patent-pending channel selectivity algorithm that enables the module to discern between desired and undesired channel communications quickly, which increases throughput, interference immunity and battery life. Additionally, the module features a software-selectable channel mask for clear channel operation and advanced sleep modes to enable efficient battery usage in battery powered applications.
XBee-PRO 900HP modules can be configured and maintained easily through the iDigi Device Cloud when coupled with a ConnectPort X gateway. The iDigi Device Cloud provides the infrastructure required to access, control, configure and upgrade unlimited devices securely over the Internet.
XBee products are said to be easy to use and share a common hardware footprint. Available in a variety of protocols for different applications, one XBee can be substituted for another with minimal development time or risk. XBee modules are pre-certified for use in multiple countries, further reducing development costs.
The XBee-PRO 900HP is available now for a suggested price of $39. Compatible ConnectPort Xgateways for iDigi Device Cloud connectivity will be available in the second quarter of 2013.
