Mechan Controls introduces RFID reset station

In the day-to-day life of a machine operator there are times when the operator needs to go inside the machine to make changes or fix a problem. Whilst inside the machine, a number of hazardous events could take place if the machine is started up.

But you can avoid inadvertent start-ups (in accordance to the safety standard ISO 14118) with the Mechan Controls RFID reset station. Once you open the guard and enter the machine, only the coded key will be able to reset the machine. The electronic fob key has to be touched and removed from the reset station in order to reset the machine. This gives the user peace of mind whilst operating inside the hazardous area.

The reset station works in conjunction with the Mechan Controls EM1, FM1, GM1 or SRL1 safety control units. It features an RFID fob key switch that can only be operated by a coded actuator, with four billion unique codes. This will fulfil the requirement for CAT4 SiL3 Ple according to safety standard EN13849 and EN62061 as well as achieving a high level code according to EN14119.

The electronic fob key comes attached to retractable belt chain to help prevent loss or damage to the RFID actuation key. With the Mechan Controls EM1, GM1 or FM1 you can eliminate fault masking by bringing each individual safety switch or emergency stop into its own extender module (ESM,GSM,FX1). By doing this, once any of the gates shown on the diagram are opened, the EM1 will stop the machine and the operator can do what he/she requires knowing that the machine will not be restarted while he/she is inside because the only fob key that can start the machine is attached to his/her belt. If the user loses a fob key then a new one can be re-taught to the reset station.
