TDK Corporation is introducing the PXC-M series of 3W, 6W and 10W DC-DC converters. Packaged in the industry standard DIP-24 footprint, the medically certified units can operate over a wide 4:1 input range. With 5000V AC input to output isolation, these efficient converters are suitable for use in a broad spectrum of medical applications and battery powered equipment.
Accepting either a 9 to 36V DC or 18 to 75V DC input, the PXC-M series is available with output voltages of 3.3, 5, 12, 15, 24, +/- 5, +/- 12 and +/- 15V DC. Operation from 12V and 24V, or 24V and 48V nominal inputs reduces inventory carrying costs and improves part availability.
Measuring just 31.8 × 20.3 × 10.2mm, the units will operate in ambient temperatures of -40degC to +105degC (with de-rating above 77degC for the 10W and 94degC for the 3W models). Optional features include an output voltage adjustment of up to -10 per cent to +20 per cent and remote on-off. Over-current and over-voltage protection is standard on all models. Off-load input current draw is a mere 6mA for 24V input and 4mA for 48V input models, making it attractive for battery-powered products.
The PXC-M series is fully isolated with an input to output isolation of 5000V AC (2 × MOPPs) and less than 0.25¼A patient leakage current. Safety certification includes IEC/EN 60601-1 and ANSI/AAMI ES60601-1 with CE marking for the Low Voltage and RoHS2 Directives.
