Parker Hannifin is launching two new communications option cards for its AC890 modular systems drive and AC890PX high power modular drive. Designed to extend the functionality and performance of the AC890 range still further, the new Ethernet/IP and Modbus/TCP cards enable users to choose from seven industry standard protocols, enabling the AC890 to be integrated into an even wider range of systems and networks.
These new cards are compatible with AC890 firmware version 3.2 and later and are easily installed by plugging them into an option slot on the AC890 drive and configuring them with DSE lite software. Existing users can also take advantage of the new communications options by upgrading their drives with the current firmware, which can be downloaded for free from www.ssddrives.com.
Advantages of Ethernet include its growing popularity on the factory floor, ease of networking, commercially available low-cost cabling and connectors, and a greater implementation by other automation product vendors that offers users the choice of a wide range of Ethernet-enabled products.
