New AC variable speed drives, and new General ManagerOctober saw the start of another chapter in the nearly 40-year history of Parker Hannifin’s SSD Drives Division Europe. The 1st of the month saw the start of production for the first of a new generation of AC variable speed drives and the appointment of Brian Hurley as the company’s new General Manager.

The AC30V Series represents a major step forward for drive technology in terms of design and manufacturing techniques and in respect of the functionality it provides users. Ethernet connectivity, a multi-language graphical keypad, STO to PLe Cat3/SIL3 and IEC61131 PLC functionality are all offered as standard. The AC30V provides exceptional protection for use in harsh environments, meeting the requirements for both classes 3C3 and 3C4 for Hydrogen Sulphide as well as classes 3C1 and 3C2 for all defined substances.

Brian Hurley, appointed as the new General Manager for SSD Drives Division Europe, has been promoted from Parker’s KV (Fluidic Systems) Division, where he held the position of General Manager for four years. Brian brings a wealth of management and technical experience gained from working in the manufacturing sector for over 30 years.

Brian’s first task has been to lay the foundations for the successful roll-out of the AC30V across Europe, the Middle-East and Africa following its official commercial launch. He comments: “Many years of engineering time and significant investment have gone into developing AC30V and this product clearly positions Parker as a major player in the global drives market.
