At this year’s SPS IPC Drives in Germany, COPA-DATA will be presenting Industry 4.0. systems for industrial environments that allow companies full integration into value and business processes, that excel in flexibility and expandability, are ergonomic, and aim for resource efficiency. With the zenon product family, companies are equipped for the fourth industrial revolution.

It is possible to establish systems for control, visualisation and data analysis with zenon, which can be flexibly adapted and ergonomically operated. Thanks to the openness and platform independence, zenon-based applications can be simply integrated, horizontally as well as vertically, into existing or new infrastructures. Furthermore, zenon allows networked, secure communication. Jürgen Schrödel, Managing Director of COPA-DATA GmbH in Germany explains: “Volatile and rapidly changing markets, as well as complex manufacturing processes present major challenges for production companies. Flexible and quick-reacting production systems support companies to overcome this challenge and be able to continually react economically.

“With the zenon Product Family, companies can achieve integrated, flexible and ergonomic automation solutions, which enable an intelligent data collection, storage, analysis and distribution and thereby achieve an increase of value-added networks.”

Production processes are open to attack, be it on premise or in the Cloud. Due to the continually growing number of cyber threats and the associated challenges faced by production companies, COPA-DATA is putting a further focus on the subject of security at this year’s fair.

Companies that implement zenon can trust in effective security mechanisms. 128-bit encryption of the communication between server, standby server and client, comprehensive access control thanks to the integrated user administration and the active directory support, protect from unwanted data loss and more.

The objective of many manufacturing companies is to increase overall equipment effectiveness and at the same time reduce consumption in all factories. Often a great deal of optimisation potential is lost here, because large companies divide their production, and therefore the production and consumption data across many plants over various countries.

Company-wide benchmarking

If businesses move their data from the zenon project to the Cloud, they can profit from tools for cross-equipment and company-wide benchmarking, and comprehensive analyses for total consumption or for quality figures from the entire operation.

The integration of zenon and zenon Analyzer in the Cloud platform, Microsoft Azure, makes it possible to provide all data from individual production sites of a company in just one system, in near-real-time. zenon Analyzer as a platform independent reporting software can process and present all relevant data in real-time, from the process to the ERP system.

With the zenon product family companies can measure, record, collect, analyse and process all operational energy and consumption data. The central instrument that comes into play here is an Energy Data Management System (EDMS) that covers all hardware and software components. zenon Analyzer supports businesses in identifying improvement potential and helps optimise energy use on a sustainable and long term basis. Furthermore, zenon enables production companies to become ISO 5001 certified.

COPA-DATA is working with an international network of specialists in order to optimally support customers together, as well as develop in new markets and industries. This year the following companies will be exhibiting as partners at the COPA-DATA booth: APE Engineering GmbH, CaderaDesign, EDAG Production Solutions GmbH & Co. KG, HEITEC AG, Microsoft Deutschland GmbH, neogramm GmbH & Co. KG and Prozesstechnik Kropf Gesellschaft für angewandte Prozessleittechnik mbH.
