Nemesis mini-circular connectors are compact and lightweight
Demands on interconnectivity speed and integrity have increased significantly, driven by C4I (command, control, communications, computer and intelligence) systems and the requirement to improve operational efficiency and personnel survivability. ITT Interconnect Solutions has responded with its innovative Nemesis range: lightweight, small form-factor interconnects, fully-sealed to IP67 or IP68 for applications in the field such as vision systems, headsets, GPS equipment and radios, where weight and size reduction are critical. Nemesis mini-circular connectors provide excellent performance in harsh environments and are equally suited to non-military applications in medical equipment, marine applications and handheld devices.
ITT ICS has introduced a new no profile Space Saver Nemesis variant with what is claimed to be the lowest profile on the market, and a Ripaway decoupling action for rugged, wearable military communications equipment requiring interconnects for power, data and audio. Nemesis Super Clean connectors have a patented drawback barrel design that allows cleaning and reconnection in seconds under field conditions. Rugged stainless steel construction provides durability, while an enhanced strain relief design eliminates cable overstressing. Further features include ITT ICS's patented breakaway Pogo Pin contact technology that guarantees over 10,000 mating cycles and assures easy connector mating and unmating while retaining full 360-degree EMI shielding. The Nemesis pogo pad receptacle design eliminates the necessity for dust-caps and removes harsh environment fouling, which is often a problem with non-pad receptacles.
Further Nemesis design innovations include blind mating for reliable and fast connection without the need for visual or mechanical keying. An anti-reflective salt spray-resistant plating on the connector shells protects the cable interface and assists soldier concealability in marine environment manoeuvres, while the seamless ribbed overmoulding provides a non-slip grip in damp conditions. Available with RoHS-compliant black zinc nickel or electroless nickel plating, Nemesis connectors are said to be future-proof against anticipated revision of MIL standards.
