Review Display Systems is introducing a new range of GKTW70S 7-inch transmissive type, high-brightness colour active matrix TFT (thin film transistor) LCDs from SGD (Solomon Goldentek Display Corporation).
Typically, GKTW70S display panels comprise a TFT-LCD module plus LED backlight, optional touch sensor, and a choice of LVDS or CMOS interface. Graphics and text are displayed on a WVGA (800 x 480 pixel) 16:9 ratio screen with 262k colours.
A high brightness of 1000 cd is achieved (800 cd with the touch panel option), while backlight lifetime to half brightness is a minimum of 40,000 hours with backlight power consumption of only 2.6W - which makes the displays suitable for battery-powered applications. High-end applications are for outdoor and automotive use, as well as instrumentation, medical, video players and similar applications.
Viewing angles with a contrast ratio of at least 10 are 70deg/70deg left/right and 60deg/60deg up/down. However, outside the quoted viewing cone these panels drop quite slowly to a lower contrast, so the actual viewing angles seen by the eye are said to be better than the figures indicate.
The operating temperature range is -20 to +70degC with a storage temperature range of -30 to +80degC. Overall dimensions are 166.6 x 109.4 x 9.65mm (11.6mm with the touch panel).
