Phoenix Contact is expanding its Trusted Wireless 2.0 range of Radioline wireless communication products with an 868MHz wireless module. This module utilises the 868MHz frequency, which is publicly available and licence-free in Europe, at a maximum transmission power of 500mW, facilitating easy communication of I/O signals and serial data. This is particularly useful for outdoor applications such as in water and wastewater management or power supply networks. The module represents a very simple and reliable option for non-time-critical applications where signals need to be transmitted over long distances of up to 20km.
A special advantage of this wireless module stems from the adjustable data rate of its wireless interface in the range of 1.2 to 120kbps, which increases the reception sensitivity. A low data rate can span a significantly longer distance than high data rates. As a result of the individual adaptation, users can therefore make the optimum settings for their particular application and the required range.
The Radioline wireless system's I/O mapping distributes signals across the system without requiring any prior programming. All it takes is a turn of the knurled knob to assign the inputs and outputs. Each wireless module can be modularly expanded by up to 32 expansion modules.
