A new range of IP67-rated size 34 hybrid stepper motors designed to be washed down is being introduced by Astrosyn International Technology. The L-series motors are intended for motion control applications in damp, unclean environments.
The new design includes sealed shafts and lead wire connection via a sealed gland into the special terminal box to prevent moisture ingress into the motor electrics. These features are complemented by a special paint finish that protects the external surfaces of the motor.
Simon Hunt, Astrosyn's technical director, says: "The sealed motor and special paint finish will be invaluable for process equipment used in the food handling and packaging industries. Decontamination is a major consideration in this highly regulated area and we expect the wash-down capability to be a major benefit." Another expected application area is in machine tools, where the presence of cutting fluid represents a demanding environment.
The NEMA 34 range of L-series stepper motors offers bipolar holding torques of up to 760Ncm, and a wide range of options to customise flange, shaft and electrical connections. The motors can be supplied with parallel or series windings to match the drive system used. To learn more please visit www.astrosyn.com.
