Festo is introducing a new series of electric drives designed to offer OEM designers and machine builders excellent price-to-performance results in high-volume electronics and assembly applications.
The ELGC/EGSC series comprises spindle axes, toothed belt axes, mini-slides and axial and parallel kits for servo and stepper motors. These electric drives are suitable for situations requiring dynamic, lightweight movement with high precision, even under cleanroom conditions. Examples might include electronics final test and assembly, printed circuit board production, pick & place sampling in medical laboratories, or any sub-process involving handling, gluing, dispensing and testing.
Warren Harvard, Product Manager for Electric Drives at Festo, explains: "We've developed these new drives to supplement our existing core series, and they are optimised to meet the needs of the high-volume, price-sensitive middle market.
"Users can select components in the series to make up a flexible mechanical system that can be used as individual axes or combined quickly and easily to form multi-axis systems. Thanks to their compact design and a choice of axial or parallel servo or stepper motor kits, they are also easy to integrate into applications where space is at a premium."
The ELGC/ EGSC drives complement Festo's Optimised Motion Series (OMS) by offering XYZ handling at entry level prices. Like other products in the OMS range, these multi-axis systems can be assembled quickly and easily using direct product combinations with no need for numerous different adapters. Even the necessary drawings and specifications are supplied, making all the products easy to select, connect and configure.
