Unitemp is introducing a new range of affordable environmental test chambers for the charge and discharge testing of rechargeable and secondary batteries. Manufactured by ESPEC of Japan, they are designed for the charge/discharge testing that is essential for the reliability assessment of batteries. The cells are exposed to a temperature and humidity for an extended period of time, while being continuously charged and discharged with high currents. The new environmental test chambers are characterised by uniform temperature in the test area, easy access to the cells under test, and precision controls.
There are three standard test procedures that can be undertaken:
Because the testing of batteries can produce unpredictable results, the following safety features are included to protect the operator: pressure vent; emergency stop button; and hand-tighten bolt-type door lock. Optional extras include various detectors and fire extinguishers. A three-coloured light tower indicates the chamber's operating state.
The new range of environmental test chambers consists of six models with a temperature range of -40 to + 100degC, with three of the models having a humidity range of 20 to 98 per cent RH. Constructed inside and out from stainless steel, the internal dimensions are 200 x 750 x 600mm to 1000 x 1000 x 800mm and capacities are 225 to 800 litres. Weight is between 340kg and 620kg.
These chambers complement Unitemp's extensive range of test and monitoring chambers and ovens. Furthermore, Unitemp has the expertise to customise chambers if required.
