New, expandable safety controller from Mechan Controls

Mechan Controls says that its new safety system can accept any dual inputs from any of the safety devices on the market, an attribute which makes it “Unique in the market”. A primary objective behind the introduction of the new EM1/GM1 was to eliminate fault masking according to EN14119, without the need for programming. Mechan states that it has achieved this by using its ESM /GSM extender module: for CAT4, SIL3, and PL-e, each dual channel safety device must be connected to its own set of safety inputs.  

The GM/EM-Series is an expandable safety control unit designed to monitor multiple Mechan Controls Light curtains (MLG-Series) or O-Type safety switches – as well as any other Dual Channel safety devices on the market. The master control unit (GM1) can monitor one pair of MLG-Series Light curtain (transmitter and receiver) and each additional Light curtain set can be monitored by installing an additional GSM extender module. This system can also be used to safely monitor other Mechan Safety products, or any other safety products on the market says the company.

The GM1 / EM1 control unit was designed to be an upgraded version of the EM1 control unit, but to also incorporate the ESM and GSM into it. So Mechan created a master control unit that can use both GSM and ESM extender modules. By doing this the company has created a wider range of safety products that can fit into a safety control unit. Moreover, the Controllers and extenders can be installed in any configured order or can be mis-matched.
