James Walker has made major investments in manufacturing technology and personnel, enabling the company to offer highly flexible and rapid production schedules across its entire product range.
Considerable investment in the latest vacuum moulding presses, plus an additional shift of press operators, has seen a move to 24/7 production on O-rings, while additional press capacity has also reduced lead times for custom and large mouldings.
The recent launch of the James Walker Gasket Express service followed the introduction of additional waterjet and oscillating knife capacity; together these processes are said to be capable of producing 100 per cent accurate profiles and gaskets in a broad range of stock materials direct from customers' CAD files.
In addition, specialist areas of James Walker's business have also benefited from recent major investments: clean-manufacturing facilities for pharmaceutical, food and nuclear industry products have been enhanced; plus there has been recruitment in the materials science and applications engineering divisions. These moves have delivered significant new business gains and product developments.
Across the company's product ranges, investment has enabled James Walker to shorten lead times and improve speed and flexibility of production, yet still maintain the required quality and competitive prices demanded by the market.
In business for over 125 years, James Walker has experienced more economic cycles than most and sees product development and customer service as the keys to successfully negotiating the current global recession.
