New failsafe devices for S7-300 and ET 200S ranges

Siemens Automation and Drives (A&D) is introducing two new failsafe devices for factory automation. These are the CPU 319F-3 PN/DP from the Simatic S7-300 range and the EM 4 F-DI / 3 F-DO input/output module for the ET 200S I/O system.

The new S7-300 CPU 319F is designed for high-performance applications requiring safety-related functions in standard and special mechanical equipment manufacture, such as presses and plant building. It has integral Profibus and Profinet interfaces, and, as a proxy device, it can handle standard and failsafe communication between the bus systems over Profisafe. The safety-related program itself is created with Simatic Step 7 and S7-Distributed Safety.

For SIL 2/Category 3 production machinery and machine tool applications, the digital, failsafe ET 200S input/output module EM 4 F-DI / 3 F-DO 24VDC/2A features a short-circuit test and discrepancy time monitoring. It can be used, for example, in mixed configurations with standard modules and SIL 3/Category 4 modules.
