New high-capacity Dodge Type E-Xtra tapered roller bearings
Baldor is launching a new version of the Dodge Type E-Xtra tapered roller bearing featuring what are claimed to be the highest load ratings and most advanced sealing system in the industry.
Since the first bearing in the Dodge Type E family was introduced in 1938, engineers have continued to design new and better bearings to meet the needs of industrial customers. This legacy of innovation continues with the introduction of the new Dodge Type E-Xtra bearing, designed with features that ensure premium performance with greater reliability.
Manufactured in the USA, the high-capacity tapered roller bearing insert allows for a combination of radial and thrust loads, yielding exceptionally high load ratings for this class of bearing. Lab tests have proven that the new tapered insert provides an increase in load rating of 13-14 per cent compared with its predecessor. The carburised inner ring has also been designed to absorb shock and resist cracking.
The latest Type E-Xtra bearing features the XTS triple-lip seal, with an advanced design that protects against contamination in dusty or wet environments. In addition, oversized dual Springlok collars act as flingers for added seal protection. For extreme conditions, customers can also choose the XTS Plus sealing system that incorporates the Dodge E-Tect seal kit for extra protection.
Bearings are preassembled, pre-lubricated and factory-adjusted for easy installation. The Type E-Xtra is offered in a variety of configurations for maximum application flexibility. The offering includes two- and four-bolt pillow blocks, flanges, piloted flanges, top angle take-ups, and wide-slot take-ups, in a choice of metric and imperial sizes spanning a total size range from 35 to 180 mm and 1-3/16 to 7 inches, depending on the style.
