Bosch Rexroth is appointing Alastair Johnstone as its new Managing Director in the UK. In his new role, Mr Johnstone will have total business responsibility for all locations in the UK, whilst retaining his original responsibility for the manufacturing sector.
Mr Johnstone, who first joined Bosch Rexroth in 1998, has worked in a number of senior management positions over the course of his career, including roles in quality, manufacturing and general management across a range of sectors and for many organisations.
In his most recent role, Mr Johnstone was responsible for Bosch Rexroth's largest UK manufacturing site located in Glenrothes, in Fife, Scotland. The site manufactures hydraulic motors for vehicles such as fork lift trucks, mini excavators, road rollers and other mobile plant equipment, primarily for the export market.
During Mr Johnstone's time in charge, Glenrothes achieved a six-fold increase in turnover and the facility twice received the prestigious Queen's Award for Enterprise for outstanding achievement in international trade.
Mr Johnstone comments: "I am delighted to have been appointed and I look forward to working with the dedicated team who service our UK customer base. Our focus is to give our customers the confidence in Bosch Rexroth, its products, services and new technologies, acting as a partner that genuinely understands the issues affecting our customer's sectors and providing the highest quality technical and application expertise."
In the future, Mr Johnstone says that the UK's manufacturing sector will be a key focus for the company: "We continue to generate a lot of interest in our factory automation solutions which are enabling UK companies to compete in global markets by driving cost out of their manufacturing processes."
