IMS, with its integrated motor and drive technology, is expanding its MDrivePlus all-in-one motion control product offering with two new step-and-direction products: the MDrive14Plus Microstepping and the MDrive14Plus Half/Full Step.
The ultra-compact MDrive14Plus products utilise a NEMA size 14 brushless 1.8-degree stepping motor and measure a mere 48x36x52mm (1.9x1.4x2.0inches). These units are suitable for many motion applications where machine space is limited, such as in medical, biomedical and clinical chemistry platforms and lab automation. The MDrive14Plus Half/Full Step is suitable for basic applications requiring no more than half and full step control.
Capable of full (256x200) microstepping, the MDrive14Plus Microstepping features a +12 to +48V DC supply input, a choice of internal magnetic or external optical encoders with multiple line counts and index mark, and an extended operating range of -40 to +85degC, providing long life and trouble-free service in demanding environments.
Oversized input capacitors minimise power line surges, thereby reducing problems that can occur with long runs and multiple drive systems. Excellent smoothness and performance is achieved through advanced second-generation current control. By applying innovative techniques to control current flow through the motor, resonance is significantly dampened over the entire speed range and audible noise reduced.
According to IMS, the MDrive14Plus can reduce size, cost and complexity in a wide range of brushless motor applications without compromising functionality. Furthermore, its compact dimensions make it suitable for use where space is limited.
