New package for geared motor users
SEW Eurodrive is launching an optional Premium Protection Package covering its range of geared motors. The package includes high-performance components that the company says "Will help make a significant contribution to the reliability of any plant by creating more durable and robust products". An additional 12 months warranty (on top of the normal 2-year period) also comes with the package.
Enhanced components in the package include a Premium Sine Seal oil seal, specially developed for SEW, which features a sinusoidal sealing lip on the motor to provide "substantially increased service lif". It can be placed in the same location on the shaft during servicing because it does not cause any run-in on the shaft itself. Further, a premium quality fluorocarbon oil seal on the output shaft of the gear unit is said to reliably protect against oil leakage and also offers resistance to aggressive media such as chemicals and solvents. SEW says that further, the seal provides high-performance thermal and mechanical properties and that these attributes (together with excellent resistance to ageing) ensure a long service life even under adverse environmental conditions. Each unit is supplied with premium SEW GearOil for increased performance: this gear oil is unique to SEW and was specially developed for its products to reduce friction and extend service life. Interestingly, the new package also provides customers with long-term protection not only during operation but also for long term storage times - for instance, until a drive is installed and started up.
