New range of wall-mounted, single-point gas monitors

Edinburgh Sensors launched the new range of Guardian NG wall-mounted, single-point gas monitors at the Sensor+Test 2012 exhibition, which took place in Nuremberg, Germany, from 22-24 May 2012. The new monitors utilises dual-wavelength, non-dispersive infrared detection technology to provide high-accuracy continuous sampling detection and measurement of either CO2 (carbon dioxide) or CH4 (methane) gases at near-analyser quality.

Designed for use in a wide range of industries from general process control to biogas and landfill gas monitoring, and controlled atmospheres in the horticulture industry, the new monitor offers reliable, high-performance operation with low maintenance requirements; the typical annual maintenance requirement is just 15 minutes.

New features include pressure- and temperature-compensated volume readout, and enhanced communication for control and data logging. Comprehensive output, alarm and fault indications are provided via the new on-board microcontroller, together with built-in data logging. Gas concentration history over a period of up to two hours can also be displayed graphically.

A new display screen provides more user information and a high-accuracy data readout. This display also greatly simplifies system set-up and signal output configuration. Enhanced security capabilities include password protection to prevent unauthorised adjustments being made to the monitor.

Models are available with detection ranges from 0-3000ppm up to 0-100 per cent by volume for CO2, and 0-5 per cent to 0-100 per cent for CH4, with accuracy of better than +/-2 per cent of full scale.

Built-in audible and visual alarm and fault indicators are complemented by volt-free relay contacts, as well as analogue outputs for connection to external indication, control or data logging devices. True RS232 output is provided, with optional LAN support.

Housed in an IP54-rated enclosure, the Guardian NG features an integral pump so gases may be sampled from distances of up to 30m. The measurement cell is protected by a low-flow gas sensor and an easily replaceable particle filter.
