New rapid changeover system launches at TOTAL 2013
Improving the speed and efficiency of product changeovers on multi-product lines is presenting tough challenges for processing and packaging industries. SICK UK's new RapCo system, launched at TOTAL 2013, offers a reliable, automated option to protect product quality and boost productivity.
Showcased on stand no D12, the RapCo system is the latest innovation from SICK's range of sensors and sensing systems for factory automation, safety, quality control and track and trace applications. SICK's products for processing and packaging are built on extensive specialist knowledge and close co-operation with multi-national companies.
RapCo promises to speed up product changes by adjusting mechanical stops automatically through an integrated package of sensors, drives, a controller, display and cabling. Simple to operate, all RapCo's settings can be configured via a display and no knowledge of plc programming is needed. The result is a system with batch-specific settings that achieves speed and repeatability while reducing rejects.
SICK will also demonstrate its award-winning new deTec4 safety light curtain. The SICK deTec4 sets a new benchmark for safety while achieving machine integration and higher operator productivity. With a space-saving, robust IP67 design, the deTec4 has no blind zones, offering optimum positioning and protection against unsafe access. The DeTec4 is very easy to install and commission with an automatic range measurement of up to 10 metres. Once set up it operates economically and reliably.
The SICK deTec4 Core offers protective field heights in increments from 300mm to 2100mm and a choice of finger (14mm) or hand (30mm) resolution providing protection against operator intervention in accordance with EN ISO 13855 up to 10m. In addition, it complies with performance level "" (EN ISO 13849), Type 4 (IEC61496) and SIL 3 (IEC61508).
