New S-DIAS safety system at Drives & Controls show

Available to view at the forthcoming Drives & Controls Exhibition, SIGMATEK says that its new S-DIAS Safety CPU offers users a slim and economic solution that meets the highest safety standards (SIL 3, PL e).

The SCP 211 Safety CPU is said to offer four times the processing speed of its smaller sister product, SIGMATEK’s SCP 111, as well as more memory for user programmes (1 MB Flash, 500 kB SRAM) together remnant memory for parameter lists and variables. The 25 mm wide DIN rail module provides a total current of 1.6 A to power the S-DIAS Safety modules, making it suitable for a diverse range of safety applications. New functions such as creating arrays, marker variables, constants in list forms and reloadable parameter lists are said to simplify creating and handling safety applications.

The LASAL SAFETY Designer’s graphical editor makes developing safety-relevant applications straightforward says SIGMATEK. In the library, more than 50 safety function blocks based on PLCopen are available such as Emergency Stop, Two Hand Control and Guard Locking. For the SCP 211, new Safety function blocks for interpolation, conversion of data units and array processing have also been added. The Safety programme is created with all optional modules once only and can then be configured as desired by users. This means that there is one Safety programme for all subsequent expansion stages of a machine.

The hardware of the modular, TÜV-certified S-DIAS Safety System  consists of a safety CPU, which monitors or controls the application, and safe I/O modules. Other attributes include safe digital inputs and outputs, analog inputs, relay outputs, as well as SSI absolute encoder inputs that can be flexibly combined. S-DIAS Safety is designed to be seamlessly integrated into the S-DIAS control system from SIGMATEK, but can also be implemented as a stand-alone solution.
