New UK distributor for safety chucks and sliding chucks

Motion Drives and Controls has been appointed as a main UK distributor for Boschert GmbH + Co KG, a market-leading safety chuck and sliding chuck manufacturer. MD&C will provide complete sales and support for the German producer's range, which is claimed to have set the standard for fast and safe roll changeover for wind or unwind web processing applications.

The range covers the economically priced Boschert C series safety chucks, available in pillow block or flange mounting for low-speed applications with beam loads of up to 64,000kg and torques of 41,000Nm. Featuring a chromed handwheel, rubber finger guard and a hardened pocket, this traditional product has been manufactured since 1948 and is still viewed by many people as the industry-standard safety chuck for high-quality web processing.

For high-speed, high-torque applications, the Boschert VT series safety chucks are available with a wide choice of options with a selection of inserts to suit square or round shafts. Designed for fast and straightforward load/unload of winding shafts from 22-120mm diameter, the VT range provides 'perfect' concentricity for torques up to 10,000Nm, speeds to 3000rpm and beam loading to 12,000kg.

In applications where the web needs to be aligned axially before or during operation, Boschert sidelay chucks provide up to +/-50mm of adjustment. Suited to beam loads up to 2800kg, the range is similar to the VT series with a selection of inserts for round or square mountings from 2-50mm and torques to 1100Nm.

Pneumatic actuation

Boschert also manufactures a range of pneumatically actuated safety chucks for completely automatic load/unload, including the A series, which include built-in axial and radial alignment. Complete with integrated safety sensors and protection, the standard range is available for beam loads up to 7000kg and torques to 2350Nm.

Motion Drives and Controls is an ISO 9002 approved manufacturer and distributor, providing a complete service in clutch and brake, motion control and power transmission, with specialist application expertise in tension control and web processing technologies. The company offers a customised design and on-site installation service for turnkey automation systems, with 24/7 service backup.
