New version of Maplesoft Global Optimization Toolbox available

Maplesoft is releasing a major new version of its Maple Global Optimization Toolbox, which is now available from Adept Scientific. The Toolbox is designed to solve a wide variety of optimisation problems in mathematics, engineering and the sciences; and this latest release harnesses the power of Optimus technology from Noesis Solutions to achieve solve more problems, faster.

The objective of global optimisation is to find the optimal solution in models that have a number of sub-optimal local solutions meeting requirements, but are not necessarily the best possible answer. Such problems can be very difficult to solve, and so engineers and researchers are often forced to settle for sub-optimal solutions. The result can be inferior designs and operations, and related expenses in terms of reliability, time, money and other resources. The Maple Global Optimization Toolbox provides a powerful set of global solvers that find the best possible solution to a problem, so compromises do not need to be made.

Leveraging the powerful, proven optimisation technology from Optimus, the Maple Global Optimization Toolbox is now even more powerful. It features new solver methods and many more options that allow customers to guide the search for the solution based on their knowledge of the particular problem. For example, customers can select different methods for locating promising new points in the design space, or control the balance between computation speed and probability of success. Using these new methods and options, customers can reach their solutions faster and solve more problems than ever before.

Dr Laurent Bernardin, Executive Vice-President and Chief Scientist at Maplesoft, says: "More and more, in today's competitive environment, companies cannot settle for second-best when it comes to solving their design problems. They need the best possible solution to deliver the best, most cost-effective products to their customers. With the new Maple Global Optimization Toolbox powered by Optimus technology, customers will be able to determine the best solutions to their most challenging problems."

Naji El Masri, Noesis Solutions' Chief Technology Officer, says: "We are pleased that Maplesoft has chosen our industry-proven Optimus technology to develop their new Global Optimization Toolbox. Thanks to its robustness, Optimus technology is increasingly being adopted by software development companies like Maplesoft to extend the power of their solutions. Inside Maple's technical document environment, users can develop full solutions that include computations, documentation, visualisations, interactive applications and more. With the new Global Optimization Toolbox they can now also find the optimal design solution more quickly and effectively."

Maplesoft's product range, including Maple, MapleSim, Maple T.A. and the Maple Global Optimization Toolbox is supplied and supported by Adept Scientific in the UK, Ireland and the Nordic countries. Visit www.adeptscience.com for further details.
