New yellow cable for rapid AS-Interface switchboard wiring

Belcom is introducing a new twin cable with parallel copper conductors for use with the AS-Interface industrial fieldbus system. Launched in the late 1990s, AS-Interface allows for fast, reliable and, above all, cost-efficient networking of basic control and command equipment. The success of AS-Interface was first sealed by the classic yellow profile cables, which allow for amazingly simple installation of slaves such as sensors or actuators in the harshest environments thanks to piercing technology. Now, the new AS-Interface twin cable created by bus specialist Leoni Special Cables ensures high-integrity connections and considerably reduced cabling in switchboard cabinets.

With less weight, smaller bending radii and extremely convenient handling, the new compact cable allows users to achieve higher packaging densities and, therefore, build smaller cabinets and/or accommodate greater complexity within a set cabinet. Installation time is said to be reduced by 75 per cent compared with using conventional single-conductor cabling. And less cabling means less cost! With the new AS-Interface twin cable, costs are reduced by approximately 40 per cent.

The polarising web on the new twin yellow ASI cabinet wiring cable ensures correct termination every time. The cable was designed for extremely quick IDC (isolation displacement connection) termination; the insulation jacket consists of a yellow thermoplastic copolymer (FRNC) compound, making it flame-resistant and halogen-free. The cable comes with UL approval - which is a 'must' for exporting overseas and RoHS compliance.

Intended for use with installations involving the innovative AS-Interface Chips, the new twin cable enables cost-effective integration of pushbuttons, switches and control lamps in a complex AS-Interface network.
