NI hosts free 'Summer of LabVIEW' webcast series

Regardless of experience, attendees will learn how to rapidly and cost-effectively interface with measurement and control hardware, analyse data, share results and distribute systems, by joining the following webcasts:

Week 1: Explaining the Fundamentals

3 August Discover LabVIEW An introduction to LabVIEW and the concept of graphical system design. Explore virtual instrumentation with exciting UK and Ireland customer examples.

4 August Explore Data Acquisition See how LabVIEW can simplify data acquisition and how this software has cemented the NI position as a world leader in DAQ.

5 August Kick-Start your Application with the LabVIEW Community Learn tips for using the online LabVIEW Developer Zone, find out about local user groups and explore the LabVIEW community.

Week 2: LabVIEW for Test~~~ Control and Design Applications

10 August Build or Buy? Answering the First Question of Designing Embedded Products and Devices Discuss the benefits and challenges associated with both approaches from a technical and business perspective, and explore the use of LabVIEW in product design and embedded application development through sectors such as industrial, medical, automotive and energy.

11 August Test and Measurement Automation The common factor standardising modern test applications is the software-defined architecture that assures flexibility, maintainability and reliability. Uncover some of the technology behind this trend and see how a software-defined approach to test can be advantageous.

12 August Multilingual LabVIEW: Talking to Any PLC Learn how LabVIEW can talk to a multitude of devices including PLCs, PACs and sensors, using industry-standard communications protocols.

Week 3: Summer School for LabVIEW Developers

17 August Understanding Core LabVIEW Design Patterns Explore how core design patterns, including State Machines and Producer-Consumer loops, can make applications a success.

18 August Tips and Tricks from a LabVIEW Architect Gain an insight into the expertise of a LabVIEW architect and hear, firsthand, the tips and tricks that take LabVIEW development to a new level, increasing both productivity and performance.

19 August Software Engineering with LabVIEW Learn good software engineering practices and tools and techniques to use within the LabVIEW platform.

Week 4: A Bright Future for LabVIEW

24 August LabVIEW: The Future of Robotics See why a doctorate in robotics might not be needed to build robots, and how powerful design tools can develop sophisticated robots with elegant simplicity.

25 August The LabVIEW Story: New Features for LabVIEW in 2010. Part 1 Examine the major developments since the conception of LabVIEW and how they benefit modern application development. See how the new features in 2010 can increase development, productivity and application performance.

26 August The LabVIEW Story: New Features for LabVIEW in 2010. Part 2 The story of LabVIEW continues, with new toolkits and modules that expand the horizons of the LabVIEW developer.

Every webcast in this Summer School will be broadcast twice each day, at 10:00 and 14:00 BST. Attendees will be able to interact directly with the presenter and other attendees. For more details and to register for the Summer of LabVIEW webcast series, go to www.ni.com/uksummeroflabview.
