NI promotes Sarah Brady to Field Sales Engineer

National Instruments UK & Ireland has promoted Sarah Brady to Field Sales Engineer for East Midlands and the North East. In her new role, Sarah will be the first point of contact for customers in the East Midlands and the North East, with responsibility for specifying systems and introducing National Instruments' innovative hardware and software.

NI promotes Sarah Brady to Field Sales Engineer

Sarah began her career at National Instruments in 2004, as an Internal Sales Representative, after graduating from the National University of Ireland Galway with a degree in Applied Physics and Electronics. Following a successful year in inside sales, she transferred to the Application Engineering team to provide technical support to customers. Added to this valuable experience, Sarah has enjoyed two assignments as a Technical Marketing Engineer where she drove the technical content for NI seminar tours and authored articles for industry magazines.

Sarah Brady says: "I am very excited to have this opportunity and I am looking forward to using the skills I have developed over the past three years to begin implementing systems and helping to make our customers more successful."

Career development

As with all National Instruments Applications Engineers, Sarah was enrolled into the Engineering Leadership Programme (ELP), the training programme for individuals interested in career development at National Instruments. While in this programme, engineers develop product knowledge as well as leadership skills, which prepare them for successful careers. National Instruments' promote-from-within policy, coupled with its rapid growth, demands a steady flow of qualified engineers to fill positions in Marketing and Technical Sales.

Ian Bell, Regional Director of Marketing, says: "At National Instruments, we always hire the brightest and best engineers straight from university. The Engineering Leadership Programme, with its blend of on-the-job and class-based learning, really gives our graduate engineers a headstart in their field-based careers and it contributes to the success of our direct sales approach."

Throughout two years of intensive training on products and applications, ELP engineers - the interface between National Instruments and its customers - deliver creative and timely solutions to customers' technical problems. They work extensively with every department in the company, primarily assisting Sales and Marketing - but also feeding information back to Product Design and Manufacturing.

Because of the broad exposure to the company, coupled with short-term assignments with Technical Sales and Marketing, ELP engineers can establish which direction they want to pursue in their careers. In addition, they have the opportunity for travel within the UK and Ireland (and potentially internationally) to conduct customer training and seminars, attend trade shows and give product presentations.
