Norelem offers extended range of shaft collars

Norelem has extended its range of shaft collars for use in machine and fixture construction to ensure continuous safety and optimisation in machine and fixture construction.

The collars are used to secure shafts and axles but can also be used as fixed stops or fastening options. The shaft collar range includes three products: one-piece shaft collars slitted inside; one-piece shaft collars slitted outside; and two-piece shaft collars – where the two-piece shaft collars are held together with two socket head screws.

“Expanding on products with diverse applications is something that we take great pride in,” says Marcus Schneck, CEO of Norelem. “Our updated range of shaft collars can be used as widely as holding up a flag on a flagpole to positioning medical devices on medical equipment and more. With this extended range of shaft collars, we will be able to supply multiple industries in machine and fixture construction.”

The one-piece shaft collars slitted inside are mounted axially on shafts or axles and enclose them with an even distribution of clamping force. This creates a dimensionally accurate fit, high holding forces, and no damage to the shaft. Whereas the one-piece shaft collars slitted outside create up to 15% higher clamping forces than their slitted inside counterpart. The bore, however, remains cylindrical, which encloses the shaft more precisely.

The two-piece shaft collars can be placed both axially and radially on the shaft or axle, which encloses the shaft with an even distribution of the clamping forces. The two pieces are held together with socket head screws. As with the one-piece versions, clamping is carried out by reducing the slot height using cylinder screws. This results in a dimensionally accurate fit and high holding forces without damaging the shaft. All three collars are available in a regular and a wider version.

The three products are each available in four different materials: steel, aluminium, A2 quality stainless steel, as well as in Norelem’s newly expanded A4 quality stainless steel range. This allows these shaft collars to be used in environments with close proximity to salt water, such as shipyards. The collars are also fit for use in a high range of temperatures, being rated to withstand as cold as 40°C and as high as +175°C, making them suitable for a vast range of industries and applications.
