The Northern Manufacturing & Electronics Show returns to Manchester's EventCity on 1/2 October 2014. This event builds on the success of last year's launch show, promising machine builders even more to see this year.

Northern Manufacturing & Electronics Show and seminars 2014

Northern Manufacturing follows the format of its well-established sibling event, Southern Manufacturing, bringing together an eclectic mix of manufacturers, component suppliers and subcontractors from a very wide spectrum of engineering in a single venue. The show is free for visitors and, being located at EventCity, close to the heart of Manchester, it is also very easy to get to. With its roster of major international manufacturers and smaller regional specialist firms, the show delivers a rare opportunity for industrial professionals across the North to meet an enormous variety of suppliers in just one visit. The organisers anticipate around 20 per cent more exhibitors for 2014, so there will be even more to see this year.

The Northern Manufacturing Show addresses the northern half of the country from the Midlands upwards, including Northern Ireland and Scotland. Manufacturing, aerospace, medical technology and transportation are all strongly represented industries regionally, and visitors from these sectors will be well catered for. The SME-friendly format of the show enables it to be a popular and important forum for the numerous engineering enterprises supporting the region's key manufacturing industries.

Exhibitors

But Northern Manufacturing is a lot more than merely a regional event. Organised by the same team that delivers one of the UK's top annual industrial shows, Southern Manufacturing, the Northern show had sufficient credibility from Day One to pull in the big names: Haas Automation, Yamazaki Mazak, Kuka Robotics, Olympus, Renishaw, Amada and Bystronic being just a few notable examples returning this year. This distinctive variety of big and small companies, specialists and general suppliers, gives the event strong appeal.

At the time of writing, there are around 130 suppliers of both electronic and mechanical components confirmed for Northern Manufacturing 2014, which makes it an attractive show for machine builders. Some of the more interesting companies participating include Bernstein, which returns for 2014 with its assortment of machine safety systems. Sub-contractor Convert is a specialist manufacturer of complex cable looms, harnesses and assemblies as used in the automotive industry, public transport systems and medical equipment. Trans-tronic, one of Europe's largest makers of wound components, demonstrates various models from its extensive product line, that covers tiny air coils to toroids and three-phase transformers built to customer's specifications.

Kabelschepp Metool from Ilkeston, Derbyshire provides a complete range of cable chains in a variety of materials, used in a huge range of applications from ink jet printers to oil rigs. To suit this diversity of applications the Kabelschepp Metool product range offers everything from plastic cable chains measuring only a few millimetres wide to bespoke stainless steel cable chain weighing several tonnes.

PowerPax is one of the largest and most trusted suppliers of power conversion products in the UK, supplying hundreds of companies across the UK and Europe, as well as some of the world's largest OEMs, to power their products. DMS Technologies returns to Northern 2014 with its impressive range of battery technologies including Sealed Lead Acid, NiMH, NiCd and Lithium, which it supplies to an equally broad range of customers, including telecommunications, petro-chemical, medical, defence and security, aerospace and rail.

Sub-contractors

Machining and fabrication sub-contractors exhibiting in 2014 include DJJ Precision Engineering, Orbital Fabrications, Jenks & Cattell, Serious Engineering, Dawson Precision Components and many others. There are also numerous PCB and CEMS firms taking part, such as the Eurotech Group, European Circuits and LCL Electronics, together with component suppliers such as Easby Electronics.

The Midas Group is exhibiting for the first time at Northern 2014, with over 230 different products and solutions on show, representing its entire product collection. The firm designs, manufactures and supplies display, sensor and EMC products. New releases will include sunlight-readable TFTs, VA technology LCDs, high-resolution graphic LCDs, RGB OLEDs, new ultrasonic sensor ranges, plus much more.

Pacer will highlight its wide selection of displays, LEDs, sensors and optoelectronic products alongside its ability to customise and produce modules or assemblies to customers' needs. Technologies on display include electroluminescent (EL), transparent EL, OLED and TFT LCD, exhibited along with robust mobile PDAs and tablets. Pacer's optoelectronic portfolio comprises light and colour sensors, high-power and specialist LEDs, thermopiles, pyrodetectors and laser components.
