NSK is launching a comprehensive production aid, the advanced Steel Industry Kit. Comprising four practical guides, the Steel Industry Kit is recognition that each steel mill faces different challenges and that a "one size fits all approach" to improving reliability and reducing costs does not work.
Launched as part of NSK's strategic Asset Improvement Programme, which is designed to improve efficiency and profitability for manufacturers in all industrial sectors, the free Steel Industry Kit includes four pocket-sized booklets that provide practical guidance on Steel Mill Bearing Types; Fitting Practices for Steel Mill Bearings; Typical Damage of Steel Mill Bearings; and Lubrication of Steel Mill Bearings.
An NSK spokesman says: "The new Steel Industry Kit is designed to help bearing users overcome the damaging effects of incorrect specification, mounting, improper handling and incorrect lubrication, which are the most common causes of premature bearing failure in the steel industry. It also gives the user comprehensive data, listing common causes for bearing failures and the countermeasures that can be employed to eliminate them."
The pocket guides are spiral bound to enable easy reading of individual sections by engineers in the work shop or in the field. They are easy to assimilate, and are complemented by charts, illustrations and graphs that provide at-a-glance information on all crucial topics that effect the reliable and consistent operation of bearings in steel mills.
Included in the Steel Mill Bearing Types booklet are new technological advances; products that make failures in the continuous production cycle that much more unlikely. The products include NSK's new Extra Capacity Roll Neck Bearings, a new design that delivers up to 34 per cent extra load capacity and longer life under severe lubrication conditions, and the "next generation' HPS Series spherical roller bearing. The design of the HPS series means that these bearings have up to 25 per cent dynamic load capacities that exceed those of the conventional spherical roller bearings.
Free copies of the "Steel Industry Advanced Kit - Advanced' are available from NSK: Freephone 0500 2327464. Callers should quote the publication reference: KIT/IA/E/09.11, and also the title of the publication. To fid out more, visit the website at www.nskeurope.com.
