NSK's upgraded NH Series and NS Series linear guides feature a new groove design that is claimed to double the life expectancy.
Linear guides are used in a wide variety of applications in production equipment, including material-handling robots, machine tools and equipment used for processing semiconductors, LCDs and automobile components. Due to the expectations of improved productivity and longer maintenance intervals, these linear guides must last a very long time.
The life of a linear guide is largely determined by the design and manufacture of the grooves in which the load-supporting balls run. Knowing this, NSK pooled its strengths of analysis technology (simulation technology) and production technology to develop a new shape for the ball groove. This new shape optimises the contact surface pressure distribution for a dramatic improvement in life.
NSK NH and NS Series linear guides benefit from this new ball groove to achieve double the life expectancy of the conventional linear guide. These series of linear guides will therefore help to improve the life and enable the downsizing of devices. Furthermore, compared with the conventional LH and LS Series linear guides, the new products have 1.3 times the dynamic load rating.
The installation dimensions are the same as the conventional LH and LS Series products, so the long-life linear guides can be used without making any further changes to the surrounding components.
In addition, the new products can be used with popular options such as NSK K1 lubrication units that provide for maintenance-free operation for a long period of time, and random matching parts that provide for the free combination of rails and ball slides.
