Nylacast, which provides engineering polymers and components to key industries worldwide, is headquartered in Leicester, England, with additional locations in multiple continents. Having successfully delivered a wide spectrum of custom components to many companies for over four decades, the engineering firm is renowned as a global leader in the field of engineering plastics.

Now in their sixth year, the BEEAs aim to promote the quality of engineering design within the UK and celebrate the British companies that are competing on a global stage and holding their own. Nylacast has been shortlisted twice for the category of Materials Application of the Year.

Specialising in the formulation of engineering materials and plastics, the engineering firm works closely with many customers and partners to replace traditional materials and metals, formulate new custom materials and components, and deliver increased performance and efficiency levels for thousands of engineering and industry applications worldwide. This extends from highly technical polymers utilised within the North Sea and Gulf of Mexico, through to safety-critical components functioning on tens of millions of vehicles worldwide.

Holding a strong focus and drive on the continued development of its people and polymers, Nylacast as a company has also recently won multiple awards in recognition of its community outreach projects, corporate social responsibility and apprenticeship, training and development programs.

Junaid Makda, Nylacast's Marketing Manager, comments: "Nylacast are euphoric at the news of being shortlisted twice for the prestigious BEEAs, which holds high kudos in the international engineering arena. Coupled with the recent accolades received for our dedication to our people and community, this news greatly enriches our passion for the continuous development of Nylacast's people and polymers."

The 2014 BEEAs will take place on 9 October on Northumberland Avenue in central London. This year's potential winners were selected by an expert panel of judges drawn from a cross-section of electronic and engineering design disciplines, including: Philippa Oldham, head of transport and manufacturing for the IMechE; Andrew Burrows, chief technology officer of i20 Water; and Ashley Evans, director of electronics for techUK.
