Eurotherm is introducing an advanced security feature for its 3500 and Mini 8 controllers that prevents the unauthorised cloning of control configurations, thereby protect the intellectual property rights of the original equipment manufacturer (OEM), customers and value-added distributors.
OEM security has successfully protected the 2600 and 2700 series of Eurotherm controllers for several years but there are still a lot of unprotected units in operation that are vulnerable to cloning.
Security is more important than ever, as customers demand products that are efficient, reliable and risk-free. OEM security, an integrated product from Eurotherm, is optimised to block any attempts at cloning or otherwise interfere with system configurations. It also increases the value-added of products and services.
OEM security is activated through a simple procedure using Eurotherm iTools software package. Once the feature has been installed, an OEM Security Password needs to be entered to access iTools configuration and monitoring software.
The common communications registers are still available for SCADA and PLC systems to read and write data while the controllers are in Run-Time mode.
OEM security can be purchased by requesting the option at the time of order.
