Oil drain valve offers benefits over drain plugs

Richco International is launching a new Oil Drain Valve, ODV-1, that can be used by OEMs as a cost-effective alternative to conventional drain plugs, or retrofitted to existing small engines.

Oil drain valve offers benefits over drain plugs

The company claims that using the ODV-1 can, for example, reduce the time required for engine assembly and testing. Subsequent servicing is said to be safer, quicker and cleaner.

As standard the drain valve has 3/8-18 NPT threads (American Standard Pipe Taper Thread), though it can also be customised to accommodate different thread sizes.

Ease of use is a major advantage for this patent-pending product. To use it, just remove the cap, install a drain tube, squeeze the tabs and pull open the barrel. After the oil has been drained, just push the barrel back in, place the cap on the barrel and you are ready to refill the engine with oil.

Each oil drain valve comes with sealant on the threaded casting to prevent leakage from the engine block.

According to Richco, years of development and testing have gone into this innovative product.
