Omron launches the M1 integrated AC drives solution

Omron has announced the release of the M1 Integrated AC Drives Solution. This cutting-edge solution offers advanced system integration capabilities, enabling machine design with enhanced flexibility, higher efficiency, and space-saving advantages.

The Omron M1 Integrated AC Drives Solution introduces a range of features and functionalities that set a new standard in motor control and drive technology. The solution expands the choices of motors that can be used for the drive system. Standard induction motors (IM), permanent magnet motors (PM), direct drive PM motors (up to 128 poles), and special motors such as drum motors are supported.

Motor parameters can be easily adjusted using the autotuning function in Omron’s Sysmac Studio.

The key benefits of the solution include:

  • Built-in support for Modbus and EtherCAT communication protocols for seamless connectivity and interoperability with a wide range of industrial automation systems.
  • Flexible configuration options for EtherCAT. With support for Ring topologies, the solution provides seamless integration and efficient data transmission.
  • Sysmac Studio Integrated Development Environment (IDE), offering an intuitive and user-friendly software tool for easy configuration, monitoring, and management of the system.
  • Versatile motor control capabilities, including speed control, torque control, precise position control, and master-follower function.
  • AC induction and permanent magnet synchronous motors in both open loop vector (OLV) and closed loop vector (CLV) modes. Efficient operation across a wide range of motor applications.
  • Built-in encoder and pulse counter input with high-speed position capture through digital input for accurate motion control.
  • Safe Stop 0 functionality, featuring Safe Torque Off (STO) capability compliant with Safety Integrity Level 3 (SIL3) Performance Level e (PLe). It offers both wired and Fail-Safe over EtherCAT (FSoE) safety options.
  • Energy-saving dedicated functionality, allowing for optimized energy usage and reduced operating costs.
  • Coated PCB that enhances durability and ensures reliable performance in challenging industrial environments by providing resistance against dust and moisture.

Omron stands behind the quality and reliability of the M1 solution, guaranteeing 10 years of maintenance-free operation, even in demanding industrial settings. The M1 inverter solution has received certifications including CE, UKCA, cULus, KC, RCM, and RoHS, ensuring compliance with international safety and environmental regulations.
