Operator panels combine machine control and HMI functions
Gefran's new GF_VEDO high-performance touchscreen operator panels are an economical way to provide both HMI (human-machine interface) and machine control functions for medium- to high-complexity automation applications. Available in 6.5, 10.4, 12.1 and 15inch display sizes, all models benefit from a full complement of fieldbus expansion and peripheral ports, plus the GAB (Gefran Automation Builder), a single programming environment that seamlessly combines PLC and SCADA graphic page display programming.
Depending on the colour display size, the graphics resolutions available are 640x480 (VGA), 800x600 (SVGA), or 1024x768 (XVGA). Smaller models are available as touchscreen display only or with an integral tactile keypad for additional functionality. The rugged and durable range is based upon powerful 32-bit processors with a choice of RAM and solid-state DOM (DiskOn-Module) general-purpose memory. With no conventional hard drives and no requirement for cooling fans, the GF_VEDO units have no moving parts and are therefore particularly suitable for use in harsh and high-vibration environments. Faceplate protection is to IP65 and the operating temperature range 0 to +50degC.
Fieldbus options include CANopen, Modbus RTU and Modbus TCP with fixed peripheral ports for two Ethernet 10/100 Base-T ports, RS485, two USB ports, PS2 and mouse. The operator panels can also be used in conjunction with Gefran's USB-connected TF32 keyboards that provide additional fieldbus interconnectivity, digital inputs, input key and LED functions, thereby expanding the application potential of the GF_VEDO panels.
Lower development costs
Gefran Automation Builder (GAB) is a single programming environment that seamlessly combines OpenPCS PLC programming, based on the universal IEC 61131-3 language, and SCADA graphic page display using Java-based Visual designer software. GAB helps to ensure lower development and maintenance costs with high levels of application reliability and security.
For complete application flexibility, the GF_VEDO range can include alternative operating systems such as Windows XP Embedded or VxWorks. In addition, the panels can be preloaded with ready-to-run applications such as GF_PACK software for plastics extrusion and injection moulding, which can be supplied as a part of complete plastics industry machine control system including Gefran's temperature, process and motion controls.
The complete GF_VEDO range also includes 3.5 and 5.7inch combined HMIs and PLCs with PLC expansion via a built-in GILOGIK Bus for use with a wide variety of analogue and digital I/O, temperature and counter modules.
