Solid-state electro-optic level sensor is robust and durableGems Sensors and Controls is introducing the ELS 950M Electro Optic Level Sensor (ELS) for liquid level sensor applications. The compact, durable and low-cost ELS 950M is the latest addition to the existing ELS 950 Series and will benefit OEMs and end users in a wide range of industries and environments.

Encased in a brass housing, the new ELS 950M liquid level sensor features an over-moulded electronics insert, TPE insulated wires, and a fluorocarbon O-ring seal to create an airtight and watertight assembly that is able to perform in harsh environments. This sensor can maintain integrity in temperatures ranging from -40 to +110degC and pressures up to 17bar. The ELS-950M has been developed to meet the demands for a wide range of industrial applications and is approved to UL Recognition, CE marked to EMI standards, shock- and vibration-tested to MIL standards, ingress protected to IP66/67 and is RoHS-compliant.

These robust sensors are available in 5V or 12V DC models with mounting options of 1/4" NPT Male, 1/2"–20 UNF-2B or M12x1.8 straight thread.

Kevin Castonguay, the Product Marketing Manager for Gems Sensors & Controls, comments: "With the development of the ELS-950M Series, Gems has continued to expand the broad offering of our ELS product line. The product delivers a robust and reliable solution for OEM customers. The small, solid-state sensor is durable enough to handle almost any application or temperature."

The compact size, durability, and low cost of the sensor make it suitable for a variety of point level liquid sensing applications in medical diagnostic equipment, sterilisers, washers, dialysis equipment, lubricant systems in machine tools, generator sets, on- or off-road vehicles, hydraulic fluid reservoirs, HVAC and refrigeration systems, radiators and fluid overflow containers, and OEM food and beverage applications.
