A Parvalux PM10MWS (9rpm 12V 30Nm) gearmotor is being used by NERO, a Dutch group of enthusiasts attempting to smash the European altitude record by sending a two-stage rocket to 132,000 feet.
Parvalux is sponsoring rocketeers NERO in their quest for the European altitude record. The Dutch Federation for Rocket research is a club of rocket amateurs who have been designing, building and launching amateur rockets since 1959. Currently they are pursuing the European altitude record, which they are aiming to break by almost 30km. A project team of 12 members is building a two-stage rocket that will fly at Mach 3 to more than 40km (132,000 feet).
Jeroen Brinkman, Project Manager for the altitude record, says: "It is obvious that such a project cannot succeed with support of the business community. In the rocket we have a video transmitter that also transmits the GPS location of the rocket. This GPS location is used to aim a parabolic dish antenna that will follow the rocket along its trajectory. Our design uses a Parvalux motor and gearbox, since this is one of the best available on the market today."
