Patlite type RLR rotating beacon suits harsh environments
Techdrives is promoting the Patlite type RLR rotating beacon that is designed for outdoor use and severe environments. Suitable for mobile applications and external signs, the RLR is 162mm in diameter and can be supplied with red, yellow, blue or green lenses. The design includes LED bulbs and other features to achieve a long, maintenance-free life.
RLR beacons are protected to IP66 and are rated for use in ambient temperatures of -30 to 70degC, which means they are suitable for most outdoor applications. The use of LED bulbs achieves a lifetime at least 20 times longer than incandescent bulbs. Rotation of the lens is achieved by a maintenance-free brushless motor that is rated for 10,000 hours operation. To further guarantee trouble-free operation, the RLR is rated to withstand up to 11 'g' shock, such as might be encountered with off-road vehicles. Variants are available for 12, 24 and 48V DC, also 90-250V AC.
The Patlite range is available in the UK on the Techdrives website. Smaller rotating beacons are available in sizes starting from 82mm. Beacons can include audible alarms of up to 90dB or voice messages at up to 94dB. Other options include motors with up to 10 years' life, explosion-proof beacons for Zone 1 and Zone 2 use, and battery-powered portable models.
