PCB Piezotronics microphones: fast delivery, excellent value

PCB Piezotronics is announcing the availability of many of its most popular microphones on less than 5 days delivery with pricing that gives exceptional value compared with competitive products. In addition to the fast delivery and low pricing, the majority of models are offered complete with 5-year warranty.

PCB Piezotronics microphones: fast delivery, excellent value

The most popular model in PCB Piezotronics' range is the model 378B02 ½-inch (12.7mm) prepolarised microphone, suitable for high-accuracy applications where high sensitivity is required for free-field response type measurements. Applications include precision sound level measurements, R&D, hearing preservation and safety, vehicle pass-by noise, machinery preventative maintenance, environmental noise monitoring, anechoic chamber and loudspeaker measurements. At 610, the model 378B02 offers excellent value with TEDS (Transducer Electronic Data Sheets) built in, 50mV/Pa sensitivity, frequency range from 3Hz to 20kHz, dynamic range to >135dB and operating temperature range from -40 to +120degC (HT version).

A range of prepolarised ICP array microphones is available for use in consumer goods and R&D laboratory testing. These offer a cost-effective alternative for multi-channel testing applications with a low per-channel cost. Suitable for measuring sound within the normal range of human hearing capability, series 130 array microphones are single piece units that include a built-in preamplifier.

Offering excellent phase specifications, multiple series 130 microphones can be mounted and spaced in a predetermined pattern coordinated with software to transform a complex sound field and project an effective map of the acoustic energy flow enabling end users to pinpoint the noise source and determine the speed and direction of sound. With the 130E20 at 189 per unit, the series 130 array microphones are an excellent choice in a wide range of applications such as noise identification, near-field acoustic holography, sound pressure mapping, beamforming and other large channel count applications. TEDS simplifies the identification of each array microphone.

A new addition to PCB Piezotronics' microphone range is the model 377B26, a high temperature probe microphone and preamplifier that is capable of measuring sound in environments up to 800degC. Comprising a quarter-inch (6.35mm) prepolarised microphone and preamplifier within a protective housing incorporating an impedance tube to minimise reflections and ensure accuracy, the 377B26 probe comes with 20, 40, 60, 80 and 160mm stainless steel tips, each acting as a low pass filter. The shorter tips offer the highest frequency capability while the longer tips enable measurements in the highest temperature environments. Also included are a heat sink and flexible probe tip.

The 377B26 probe microphone has a sensitivity of 2.15mV/Pa, a high dynamic range (164dB) and high temperature capability, making it an excellent choice for exhaust noise testing in automotive and aerospace engines. Additional applications include testing in confined areas, speaker diaphragm testing, acoustic impedance measurements, telephone analysis, musical instrument analysis and leak detection in industrial environments.

PCB Piezotronics' microphone range also includes surface models and side-vented types, and the company will also be introducing several new models in the near future.

Supporting its microphone range, PCB Piezotronics offers a free microphone handbook that can be downloaded from the company's website. There is also an independent competitive comparison and a brochure available alongside a range of informative videos.
